Old Fashioned Molasses Cookie

Ingredients:

  • 3 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup apple butter
  • 1 cup molasses

Directions:

  1. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger together.
  2. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add egg and beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Add apple butter; add molasses; blend.
  5. Add dry ingredients; mix.
  6. Chill dough for 2 hours or more.
  7. Roll as thin as possible.
  8. Cut into large cookies.
  9. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  10. Bake in moderate oven, 375 degrees Fahrenheit, for 10 minutes.
