Ingredients:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • confectioners' sugar

Directions:

  1. Sift first five ingredients together.
  2. Add sugar to melted butter and beat thoroughly.
  3. Beat eggs and add to sugar mixture.
  4. Add dry ingredients alternatively with milk to batter.
  5. Have dough a little stiffer than biscuit dough.
  6. Preheat oil to 360F in a large saucepan or stockpot.
  7. Roll dough to 1/4 inch on a floured board.
  8. Cut with doughnut cutter and fry until golden; turn and fry until golden on the other side.
  9. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
