Mom's Sugar Spice Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/8 cups flour
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp clove

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease cookie sheet.
  2. Cream shortening with both sugars. Add eggs and beat well.
  3. Sift together dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture. Fold in walnuts (optional).
  4. Roll into 1 balls, roll balls in 2 Tbsp granulated sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
