Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Set oven to 325°F.
  2. In a medium bowl; sift together flour, baking soda, salt and cream of tartar.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter, shortening, vanilla, and brown sugar; add beaten egg.
  4. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture; mix well.
  5. Add the coconut, nuts and chocolate chips (if using); stir well.
  6. Drop the cookie dough onto a greased cookie sheet; press flat with a fork dipped in cream.
  7. Bake 15-20 minutes.
