Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar , firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Directions:

  1. Bring raisins and water to a boil.
  2. Cool thoroughly.
  3. Cream sugar and shortening.
  4. Add egg and vanilla and mix well.
  5. Add raisins and 1/2 cup of the liquid and mix well.
  6. Add flour mixture, mix well then add walnuts.
  7. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
