Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp clove
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Directions:

  1. Combine shortening, sugar, water, raisins, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves and bring to a boil. let cool.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, and nuts. add to liquid mixture.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees in a greased and floured loaf pan, 50 minutes-1 hour.
  4. For a 9x13 pan, double the recipe.
