Homemade garlic mashed potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 6, medium- sized potatoes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 clove garlic

Directions:

  1. Wash potatoes and cut into 1 in. cubes.
  2. Boil 6 cups of water in dutch oven or large stockpot.
  3. Cut garlic into small pieces; add to water.
  4. Boil potatoes for 18-20 minutes until a fork can slide smoothly into them like butter.
  5. Turn off the burner. Drain potatoes, return to pan, and add butter.
  6. Let sit for 2 minutes for the butter to melt.
  7. Pour in milk and mash with potato masher. Do NOT use beaters.
  8. As you mash potatoes, they should be runny. Add milk as necessary to get the desired consistency.
  9. Once potatoes are creamy, serve.
  10. MICROWAVE VERSION:
  11. Wash potatoes and cut into 1 in. cubes.
  12. Put in microwave-sized container, able to hold about three times the potatoes.
  13. Mince 2-3 cloves of garlic and add. Stir potatoes and garlic together.
  14. Put the lid on, but leave it partially open for ventilation.
  15. Microwave for 8-10 minutes.
  16. Remove from microwave and add butter.
  17. Let sit for 2 minutes for the butter to melt.
  18. Pour in milk and mash with potato masher. Do NOT use beaters.
  19. As you mash potatoes, they should be runny. Add milk as necessary to get the desired consistency.
  20. Once potatoes are creamy, serve.
