Ingredients:

  • 1 (18 1/4 oz) package white cake mix
  • milk (sub for water)
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts
  • 1 (18 oz) package raisins, ground
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 1 1/2 cups sweet red wine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 5 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. For cake, prepare cake mix according to package directions, substituting milk for water and adding baking powder. Bake for 25 minutes, or until done. Cool.
  3. For filling, combine nuts, raisins, egg yolks, cream and wine in saucepan. Heat to warm through and cook egg. (Do not boil.).
  4. Cut cake into 2 layers. Spread filling over bottom layer. Replace top layer.
  5. For frosting, combine sugar, egg whites, water, corn syrup and vanilla in top of double boiler. Cook and beat for 7 minutes, or until stiff peaks form. Beat for 1 minute. Spread over top and sides of cake.
