Hearty Baked Bean Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb bacon
  • 2 (14 oz) cans pork and beans, or beans
  • 1 (14 oz) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp celery salt
  • salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300F degrees.
  2. In a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp; remove and drain fat from skillet; crumble bacon and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, brown the ground beef and onion; drain off any fat.
  4. Combine all ingredients in a casserole dish and bake for 2 hours; I keep it covered during the first hour, then remove the cover and stir, and leave the cover off for the last hour of cooking, although the original recipe did not specify this.
