  1. For the Hamburger Helper, separate the pasta package from the seasoning mix package, and save the pasta to use in another recipe.
  2. In a large skillet cook the ground beef with green bell pepper, onion, garlic and jalapeno pepper (if using) cook until the meat is well browned (about 10-12 minutes) drain fat.
  3. Add in Hamburger Helper seasoning packet, water, cooked finely chopped bacon, chili powder, tomato sauce, tomato soup and sugar; cook uncovered for about 1 to 1-1/2 hours adding in more water if needed to thin to desired consistency (the longer you simmer this the richer and thicker it will be, cook only uncovered!).
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve on soft fresh buns!
