  1. Remove and discard husks from 1/2 pound fresh tomatillos; rinse tomatillos well and cut in half (or use a 12-ounce can tomatillos, drained). In a food processor or blender, combine tomatillos; 1 can (7 oz.) diced green chilies, drained; 3/4 cup lightly packed rinsed fresh cilantro; 1/4 cup coarsely chopped green onions (including tops); and 1 tablespoon lime juice. Whirl until mixture is finely chopped.
