Grandma Joe's Southern Iron Skillet  corn Bread

Ingredients:

  • 6 tbsp vegetable oil , olive oil or 6 tbsp oil , of choice
  • 4 cups cornmeal
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 eggs

Directions:

  1. Heat oven 375 degrees.
  2. Coat 10 inch cast iron skillet evenly (spray or oil).
  3. Combine all dry ingredients.
  4. Add milk and eggs continue to mix until blended.
  5. Add melted butter or shorting (optional) mix well.
  6. Bake 25 to 30 min or until toothpick inserted in center comes out dry.
  7. Carefully remove from oven when done.
  8. Coat lightly with butter and serve.
