Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Grease an 11 x 7 x 1 1/2 inch baking pan.
  2. Combine first 7 ingredients.
  3. In a mixer bowl beat shortening with electric mixer on medium speed 30 seconds.
  4. Add brown sugar; beat till fluffy.
  5. Add egg and molasses; beat 1 minute.
  6. Add dry ingredients and water alternately to beaten mixture; beat after each addition.
  7. Stir in nuts.
  8. Pour into prepared pan and bake 25 to 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
  9. Cool.
  10. Frost with Cream Cheese frosting.
  11. Cut into bars.
  12. Cream Cheese Frosting:
  13. In a mixer bowl beat 1/2 of a 3 ounce package softened cream cheese.
  14. Add 2 tablespoons butter and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla; beat until fluffy.
  15. Gradually add 1 cup sfited powdered sugar; beat till smooth.
