Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 egg

Directions:

  1. Mix soda with hot waster.
  2. Mix all ingredients together. Roll into balls.
  3. Indent top of each cookie. Fill with jam, jelly or coconut.
  4. Bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
