German Style Red Cabbage

Ingredients:

  • 1 large red cabbage
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening

Directions:

  1. Shred cabbage.
  2. Bring water, vinegar, sugar to a boil.
  3. Add cabbage, apple, and shortening.
  4. Reduce to simmering and cook about one hour.
  5. Enjoy.
