Ingredients:

  • 5 1/2 to 6 cups flour
  • 2 package yeast
  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • small amount cornmeal

Directions:

  1. Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda.
  2. Heat liquids until very warm (120 degrees)
  3. Add dry mixture, beat well.
  4. Stir in enough mor flour to make a stiff batter
  5. Spoon into 2 - 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 pans that have been well greased and sprinkled with cornmeal.
  6. Sprinkle the top with cornmeal.
  7. Cover; let rise 45 minutes
  8. Bake 400 degrees for 25 minutes
  9. Remove from pans immediately and cool.
