Dutch Honey Bread

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 cups rye flour
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 dash salt
  • 2 cups milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Beat honey and sugar until mixture turns light.
  3. Sift together flours, baking soda, spices and salt.
  4. Mix into honey mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  5. Stir in marmalade and mix well.
  6. Pour batter into a large loaf pan.
  7. Bake for about 1 1/4 hours, or until a cake tester comes out clean.
  8. If the top browns too quickly, cover with foil.
  9. Cool wrapped in a towel.
