Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 cups chopped dates
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • optional, whipped cream

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda and salt.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press half into a
  3. Greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. In a saucepan, combine dates,
  4. Sugar and water. Cook for 10 mins or until thickened, stirring
  5. Frequently. Stir in walnuts. Spread over crust sprinkle the rest of the oat mixter over the top. Bake at 350 degrees F
  6. For 30 mins. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into squares; optional, top with whipped
  7. Topping.
