Ingredients:

  • if you have no cake flour the best substitute for 1 cup cake flour is 7/8 cup all-purpose flour + 2 tbsp cornstarch.
  • white part
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tarter 1/2 tsp almond
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • yellow part
  • 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp orange extract
  • 1/4 cup hot water 1/2 tsp lemon

Directions:

  1. Beat yolks until very thick, add sugar and eggs and beat very well
  2. Add hot water, then dry ingredients and lastly flavorings and zest
  3. Put in 2 round baking pans, marble cake style
  4. Bake at 350 for 35 – 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean
  5. Cool completely
  6. Frost with your flavor choice
