Cinnamon Syrup Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Coat a 10 bundt pan with cooking spray.
  3. Stir dry ingredients together; set aside.
  4. Beat shortening until light and fluffy.
  5. Add sugar and vanilla, continue beating until light and fluffy.
  6. Add eggs, one at a time, beating for at least one minute after each addition.
  7. Add flour and milk alternatley to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.
  8. Pour batter into prepared bundt pan.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven and let cake rest for 10 minutes before turning out of pan.
  11. While cake is still warm, poke holes around cake (with skewer or large tined meat fork.)
  12. For Cinnamon Syrup:.
  13. Combine all syrup ingredients and heat gently until butter melts (do not boil).
  14. Pour WARM syrup over WARM cake.
  15. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  16. Let cake cool. Serve and ENJOY.
