Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cold water
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 (16oz) cans pitted sour cherries
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 (8oz) plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup red wine

Directions:

  1. In saucepan,combine water,sugar and cinnamon stick.
  2. Bring to a boil,cover partially and simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes.
  3. Drain cherry liquid from sour red cherries into a small bowl.
  4. Stir in cornstarch until dissolved.
  5. Remove sugar syrup from heat , take out cinnamon stick.
  6. With a whisk,stir in cornstarch.
  7. Return to heat,cook and stir over low heat for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream,yogurt and wine.
  9. Add cherries,pour into glass bowl and refrigerator until chilled.
  10. I serve this in small crystal dessert goblets.
