Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, eggs and baking soda and blend well. Add next 6 ingredients and beat until smooth. Refrigerate at least 1 hour. (Any remaining batter can be used for pancakes.)
  2. To assemble each sandwich, layer 1 slice ham, turkey and cheese between 2 slices of bread. Quarter sandwiches and stack 4 quarters side by side, piercing through with skewer to hold sections together.
  3. Heat oil to 350 degrees. Dip each skewered sandwich into chilled batter, coating completely. Deep fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side; do no crowd. Drain sandwiches briefly on paper towels. Serve with a dollop of jam on the side.
