Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, cream sugar, butter and eggs until light and fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together flour baking soda, and salt. Blend into creamed mixture with buttermilk. Stir in almonds, cherries and almond extract.
  4. Pour batter into a greased and floured loaf pan and bake 55 - 60 minutes, testing for doneness with a toothpick. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.
  5. Yield: 1 loaf of bread
