Caramelized Onion and Garlic Pasta

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In large skillet over medium heat, melt butter.
  2. Add the onions, pepper flakes and salt; saute until onions are tender.
  3. Stir in garlic.
  4. Reduce heat to medium low; cook, stirring occasionally, for 30-40 minutes or until the onions are a deep golden brown.
  5. Add the grape tomatoes, vinegar and 2 T oil to the skillet.
  6. Cook pasta according to package directions.
  7. Drain pasta; toss with onion mixture.
  8. Drizzle with remaining olive oil.
  9. Sprinkle with bacon, parmesan cheese and pepper; and heat through.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
