Buttermilk Chocolate Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp honey

Directions:

  1. Cream margarine and sugar in large mixing bowl.
  2. Blend in eggs and buttermilk, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Add flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just moistened.
  4. Stir in pecans.
  5. Grease bottom of 5 x 9-inch loaf pan.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 65 minutes or until bread tests done.
  8. Let cool for 15 minutes in pan before removing.
  9. Combine butter, chocolate sryup and honey in small bowl, mixing well.
  10. Spread icing over cooled bread before slicing.
