Auntie Maebelle's Oven Kalua Pork

Ingredients:

  • 5 -8 lbs pork butt
  • 6 tbsp of hawaiian salt (judge the amount of salt for yourself!!) or 6 tbsp kosher salt (judge the amount of salt for yourself!!)
  • 10 tbsp liquid smoke
  • aluminum foil

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 500deg.
  2. Slit pork in several places, rub salt and liquid smoke into pork.
  3. Wrap pork with ti leaves, then in the foil, place on a small rack in a baking pan,.
  4. Lower heat to 400deg.,
  5. Bake for 4hrs.
  6. Shred pork and add juices from the pan to the pork, according to your taste. Enjoy!
  7. (note: Liquid Smoke is available in supermarkets.
