Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Cream together shortening and sugar till light and fluffy; then beat in eggs, one at a time
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cocoa and spices; add to creamed mixture
  4. Stir in rolled oats, apples and nuts
  5. Spread in greased pan
  6. Bake for about 25 minutes
  7. Cool slightly in pan on rack before cutting into squares
  8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
