Acorn Squash With A Butter Pecan Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple falvoured syrup
  • 1/4 cup coarsly chopped pecans

Directions:

  1. 1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. 2. Cut squash in half lengthwise, remove seeds.
  3. 3. Cut squash hales crosswise into 1 inch thick slices.
  4. 4. Arrange slices in 13 x 9 (3 quart) glass baking dish, cover with foil.
  5. 5. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes or until almost tender.
  6. 6. Meanwhile in a small saucepan over medium heat, then stir in the brown sugar, syrup and pecans.
  7. 7. Cook just until the sugar dissolves, stiring constantly.
  8. 8. Remove squash from the oven and spoon the pecan mixture over the squash.
  9. 9. Return to the oven and bake an additional 1-15 minutes or until the squash is tender.
