Ingredients:

  • 1 medium bowl of water
  • 1 medium bowl, empty
  • 1 small slotted spoon
  • 1 strainer

Directions:

  1. Cut the stem end of the pomegranate off, going in about 1/2 inch or so from the end. See Photo
  2. Identify the sections of the Pomegranate by looking at the cut end of the fruit.
  3. Carefully cut down into each section, running your knife down through the tougher, outer skin. See Photo
  4. Gently pull apart each section. See Photo
  5. Over the bowl of water, use your fingers to release the arils(these are the pink/purple kernel looking things filled with juice :) from the yellowish/white membranes. The arils will sink, the membranes will float. See Photo
  6. With slotted spoon, spoon out the membrane from the top of the water and discard.
  7. Once cleaned out, transfer the arils into the clean bowl through the strainer.
  8. Refrigerate for up to a week or so, or use immediately.
