  1. Melt butter in a heavy saucepan; add sugar, stirring until well blended. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and cool slightly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a small mixing bowl; add to sugar mixture, stirring well. Stir in pecans. Pour batter into a greased 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool completely, and cut into 2-inch squares.
