Watermelon Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 7 cups watermelon, pieces peeled and seeded , cut the watermelon in 2-inch pieces you will need about 4 lb. melon
  • 3 tbsp grenadine
  • 1 cup gin
  • 3 -4 cups ice cubes
  • lemon twist

Directions:

  1. Puree watermelon pieces in processor.
  2. Strain puree into large pitcher, pressing on solids in strainer to extract as much as possible.
  3. Discard any solids in strainer.
  4. Add simple syrup, lemon juice and grenadine to pitcher; stir to blend.

  6. You need to make this a few hours before serving these cocktails, as it needs time to.
  7. Chill.
  8. 3 cups water.
  9. 1 1/2 cups sugar.
  10. Stir 3 cups water and sugar in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  11. Increase heat and boil 2 minutes.
  12. Chill syrup until cold; about 3 hours.
  13. You can prepare this 1 week ahead. Cover and keep refrigerated. Makes about 3 1/3cups.
