Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
