Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 tsp yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp shortening
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 9 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Heat 1/2 cup milk to warm.
  2. Let yeast, 1/2 cup warm milk and 2 T. Sugar sit together for 5 minutes.
  3. Cook shortening, 2 cups milk and salt until shortening melts and let sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Mix and add rest of ingredients.
  5. Knead for 10 minutes.
  6. Raise one hour.
  7. Knead one more minute.
  8. Put in 4 loaf pans, let raise one hour.
  9. Cook at 350* for 30 minutes.
