Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 (1/4 oz) packages yeast (2 tsp. if you use bulk)
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 oz shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Directions:

  1. In large bowl combine sugar, salt, pepper, yeast and 2 cups of flour.
  2. Heat milk and butter until about 120-130 degrees.
  3. With mixer gradually beat liquid into dry ingredients.
  4. Increase mixer speed to medium for 2 minutes.
  5. Beat in one egg at a time and 1/2 cup of flour to make thick batter.
  6. Continue to beat for another 2 minutes.
  7. With a spoon stir in cheese and add 1 1/2 cup of flour until a soft dough forms.
  8. Turn dough out onto floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  9. Work in last 1/2 cup of flour during the kneading if needed.
  10. Shape dough and let rise about 30 minutes.
  11. Punch dough and let rest for 15 minutes.
  12. Shape any way you want to and place on greased cookie sheet and let rise.
  13. Bake at 375°F 12-15 minutes.
