Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp hot water
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Cream together sugars and butter.
  2. Mix in eggs.
  3. Dissolve baking soda into hot water and put into mixture.
  4. Blend in vanilla and sour cream.
  5. Add flour, baking powder and salt mixing until smooth.
  6. Cover and chill until firm.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  8. Roll out dough on a floured surface to desired thickness.
  9. Use cookie cutters of your choice, and bake 10-12 minutes.
  10. OPTIONAL - Place dough onto wax paper and form into a log. Cut slices of dough from log and bake. (This would be similar to buying premade dough from the store).
