Strawberry Gelato (Sherbet)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups water

Directions:

  1. Wash and hull strawberries, then puree them.
  2. Add lemon and orange juices to the berries.
  3. In a small sauce pan combine water and sugar, cook until syrupy.
  4. Cool syrup and add to fruit mixture.
  5. Place cooled mixture in ice cream machine, and freeze according to manufacturer's directions.
  6. Freezer Method: Pour mixture into a shallow freezer proof pan.
  7. Stir mixture frequently while freezing.
  8. Freeze for about 1 hour or until the mixture has the consistancy of a thick mush.
