Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Lightly spoon the flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour and next 8 ingredients (flour through nutmeg) in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture. Stir in walnuts and figs. Combine buttermilk, molasses, oil, and eggs in a bowl; add to flour mixture. Stir just until moist.
  3. Spoon batter into an 8 x 4-inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan on a wire rack, and remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.
