  2. Ingredients: 4 or 5 quart slow cooker
  3. /2 to 4 1/2 lb. beef roast
  4. /2 cup flour, divided
  5. Envelope brown gravy mix
  6. Envelope onion soup mix
  7. Cups of cold water
  8. Suggested Beef Roast Types: Arm, Shoulder, Chuck, Bottom Round,
  9. Or Rump.
  10. Cut the roast into 3 or 4 smaller size chunks and dredge in 1/4
  11. Cup of flour. Have 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil heated in a skillet
  12. On the stovetop and add the floured chunks to brown.
  13. Brown all sides of the meat on the stovetop. The flour will aid
  14. In the browning process. If using a non-stick skillet, use just a
  15. Small amount of oil.
  16. After browning the meat, place it in a 4 or 5 quart slow cooker.
  17. Pour grease from the skillet. Scrape up any bits on the bottom of
  18. The skillet and add them to the slow cooker. If the roast is not
  19. Very thick, place the meat on a rack to lift it up so at least
  20. The top part is out of the liquid.
  21. Combine the remaining flour, gravy mix and soup mix in a bowl and
  22. Then add the cold water. Stir until mixture is well blended.
  23. Pour the soup and gravy mixture over the roast in the slow
  24. Cooker. Be sure that the meat is not completely covered with
  25. Liquid so that it can be exposed to the steam during the cooking
  26. Process.
  27. Cover the pot and turn on high and cook for 1 hour. Then turn
  28. Down to low and continue to cook for 6 to 8 hours. If it will not
  29. Be possible to turn it down after an hour, begin the cooking
  30. Process on low and allow it to cook for 8 to 10 hours.
  31. Check for properly doneness. The meat should have an internal
  32. Temperature of at least 145F. Meat should be tender when done.
  33. Remove the meat from the slow cooker and check thickness of the
  34. Liquid to use as gravy. If it is too thick, add a little water,
  35. Turn slow cooker on high and cook until well heated.
  36. If the liquid is too thin make a thickener of 1 tbsp. of flour
  37. And 1/2 c. cold water. Mix until blended and then add a little at
  38. A time to the gravy while cooking on high in the slow cooker. Add
  39. Thickener until the gravy is the desired consistency. The gravy
  40. Can also be poured into a saucepan and thickened on the stovetop.
  41. Slice the meat or pull it apart into small pieces. Serve with the
  42. Gravy and mashed or un-mashed potatoes.

  48. Ingredients: 5 quart slow cooker
  49. To 8 pork chops
  50. Can chicken broth, 14 oz
  51. Envelope of onion soup mix
  52. Lightly brown both sides of the pork chops in a non-stick skillet
  53. Using a small amount of oil. Brown the chops for approximately 3
  54. Minutes on each side.
  55. Place the pork chops into a 5 quart slow cooker.
  56. Mix the chicken broth and soup mix until well blended and then
  57. Pour over the pork chops.
  58. Place the cover on the slow cooker and turn the heat on low. Cook
  59. For 6 to 8 hours.
  60. When done, remove the pork chops and serve with potatoes or rice.
