Sesame Seed Balls   Laughing Cookies

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Mix butter and sugar until well blended.
  2. Gradually add the whisked egg and water to the mixture.Mix well.
  3. Mix flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  4. Add flour and sesame seeds to the butter mixture.
  5. Mix thoroughly until the dough is well formed.
  6. Roll out the dough into a long cylinder and cut into 20 pieces.
  7. Roll each piece into a ball.Dampen slightly with whisked egg + water mixture,then roll in sesame seeds to coat.Put aside.
  8. Heat oil in a wok or a pan for deep frying.
  9. Add sesame balls in batches over medium heat,turning occasionaly.
  10. Fry until the balls turn light goden brown.
  11. Remove from oil and drain on absorbent kitchen paper.Allow to cool and serve at room temperature.
  12. OPTIONAL:When making balls,you may cut in on one side of the sesame balls a cross incision 1/4 deep with a sharp knife to dictate the
  13. Cracking of the sesame balls during frying.
