Rice Porridge With Raisin Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 -3 cup milk (depending on personal taste)
  • 1 tsp margarine
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cups water or 4 cups fruit juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 cup sugar
  • cornstarch , and
  • water , to thicken
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. PORRIDGE: Boil the rice in the water until it is soft or all the water is absorbed.
  2. Add the milk and cook slowly 20 to 30 minutes, stirring often.
  3. Add the salt, sugar and margarine.
  4. SAUCE: Boil the raisins in the wateror fruit juice with the lemon juice and cinnamon sticks.
  5. Add the sugar and continue cooking over low heat, Mix the cornstarch with a small amount of cold water.
  6. Gradually add the cornstarch and water mixture to the sauce, continuing to stir.
  7. When the sauce is thick, remove from the heat.
