Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour , plus
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tbsp crisco
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Directions:

  1. Turn oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit or 260 degrees Centigrade.
  2. Cut in Crisco with a fork.
  3. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk and mix.
  4. Put black iron skillet in oven with a teaspoon of Crisco.
  5. Flour a rollout sheet lightly.
  6. Turn out dough onto sheet and knead together (Do not knead much or biscuits will be tough).
  7. Flour rolling pin and roll out dough to about 1/8-inch thick.
  8. Fold dough over once.
  9. Cut out biscuits with a biscuit cutter or glass.
  10. Take hot skillet out of oven.
  11. Add biscuits to grease, turning once to grease both sides.
  12. Put skillet in 500°F oven and bake 10 minutes.
  13. Best and quickest you ever ate.
