Pie Crust for Dummies

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 lb lard or 2 1/2 cups vegetable shortening
  • 1 egg

Directions:

  1. Mix first three ingredients until the texture resembles corn meal.
  2. Beat one egg in a 1 cup measuring cup.
  3. Fill cup with water to make 1 full cup.
  4. Mix well, chill for 15 minutes.
  5. Divide dough 5 ways.
  6. Roll out the number of crusts you want to use on floured surface.
  7. Place remaining dough and a bit of flour in individual gallon ziplock bags.
  8. Roll out dough while it is in the bag and freeze.
  9. You now have extra crust waiting for you!
