Old Fashioned Hermit Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400
  2. Beat butter until fluffy
  3. Beat in vanilla and salt
  4. Beat in sugar gradually
  5. Add egg and beat until mixture is light and creamy
  6. Sift together flour, soda, cream of tartar and spices
  7. Add alternately with milk into butter mixture
  8. Add raisins and mix well
  9. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheets
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes
  11. Makes 4-5 dozen cookies
