Nana's Sweet and Sour Pork Chops

Ingredients:

  • 6 -8 thin pork chops
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/3 cup vinegar

Directions:

  1. Sprinkle pork chops with salt and pepper and brown in olive oil in a large skillet. After browning the pork chops, place them in a 9x13 pan. Add butter to the pan along with the green pepper and onion. Cook until peppers and onion are tender. Add tomato juice, salt, sugar and spices. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour over the pork chops and bake in a 350 oven for 45 Minutes. This recipe can be adapted easily for a slow cooker it is recommend to brown the pork chops. Serve with mashed potatoes. cooked spinach goes well with this dish. I usually double the tomato juice, sugar, salt and spices because my family likes it over the mashed potatoes. This recipe was given to me by my grandmother who cooked for a German family when she was young.
