My Grandma's Applesauce Spice Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups raisins
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tsp allspice
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped (any kind of nut meat will work)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Prepare a tube pan.
  3. Put raisins in a 1 quart pan and cover with water.
  4. Cook until almost dry.
  5. Meanwhile, combine dry ingredients.
  6. When raisins are done mix into dry ingredients with applesauce and melted butter.
  7. Bake in prepared tube pan for 1 1/2 hours.
