Mom's German Potato Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 1/2 lbs potatoes, peeled

Directions:

  1. In large pot brown onion in oil. Slice cabbage and add to browned onion. Add all remaining ingredients except potatoes to pot. Steam for 3/4 - 1 hour.
  2. Meanwhile cook potaotes, then add to cabbage mixture and stir to blend well,.
