Meatballs in Onion Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup butter
  • 6 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Soak bread crumbs in milk.
  2. Mix all remaiing meatball ingredients except butter.
  3. Form into walnut sized meatballs.
  4. Brown them well in the butter.
  5. Cover and simmer 1 hour.
  6. Sauce:
  7. Saute onions in butter until carmelized.
  8. Blend in flour and salt.
  9. Slowly add milk and beef broth.
  10. Stir until it thickens somewhat.
  11. Pour over meatballs and serve.
