Ingredients:

  • cinnamon & sugar (optional)
  • 4 cup flour , unsifted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions:

  1. Dissolve yeast cakes in water with 1 tbsp. sugar. Let stand for 20 mins.
  2. Scald milk (about 180 to 200 degrees) in saucepan, add shortening, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt. Let cool to warm, then combine with yeast mixture.
  3. Add eggs and flour. Mix well. Put in refrigerator overnight.
  4. Roll out dough into a sheet, then roll up as if for cinnamon rolls. Slice 1 1/2 to 2" sections and let rise for 30 mins.
  5. Place in oven at 425 degrees for 10 mins.
  6. (Optional) Spread a mixture of cinnamon, sugar & butter over rolled out dough. Then roll up and slice sections. Let rise, and sprinkle cinnamon mixture over the top before baking. 375 degrees for 25 mins.
