Ingredients:

  • 1 (18 oz) package duncan hines brownie mix (whichever you prefer)
  • 2 (3 oz) packages cream cheese
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. For browines: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Soften cream cheese and butter; beat together.
  3. Add sugar, eggs, flour, and vanilla; beat until smooth and set aside.
  4. Mix cakelike brownies as directed on package.
  5. Pour half the brownie mixture into a greased 13x9 pan; pour all the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer.
  6. Spoon remaining brownie batter in spots over the top.
  7. Swirl the two mixtures together with a knife or spatula (don't get carried away here) Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.
  8. Cool.
  9. For frosting: Melt butter in a medium saucepan.
  10. Stir in cocoa until dissolved.
  11. Remove from heat.
  12. Add confectioners sugar, milk and vanilla.
  13. Stir until smooth.
  14. Add more milk if needed for a soft spreading consistency.
  15. Frost brownies.
  16. Let sit until frosting is firm, then cut into squares.
