  2. Caramelize onion in oil. Add carrots and sauté until soft. Add garlic and sauté for 3 minutes. Stir in tomato paste until well combined. Stir in tomato juice, sugar, butter, salt, and pepper. Simmer 2 to 3 hours, until sauce thickens. Meanwhile, make the meatballs.
  3. MEATBALLS:.
  4. Mix onions, garlic, eggs, milk, parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and allspice until well combined.
  5. Break up meat and butter and mix just until combined.
  6. Brown meatballs in batches and drain grease on paper towels. Keep warm on a plate in microwave while the remaining meatballs are cooked.
